W Chicago-City Center has unveiled updates to its 235 guestrooms
and suites, signature W Living Room, and more than 14,000 sq. ft.
of meeting and event space. In addition, the hotel is on track to
double its footprint by the end of 2011. The revamp balances the
property's Beaux-Arts architecture with contemporary design
elements.
Backed by a neutral palette accented with pops of navy and purple,
guestrooms feature custom wallcoverings, white marble sinks,
modular furniture, and a bar. The W Living room is outfitted with
oversized lamps, a long sofa, and furnishings covered in serpentine
fabrics or luminescent metallics. Resembling a night sky, thousands
of LED pin lights illuminate the carpeting, while the design of
side tables—featuring liquid sealed in between their
tabletops—changes and moves when pressed.
