InterContinental New York Times Square Goes for LEED

InterContinental New York Times Square Scheduled to open this summer, the 36-story InterContinental New York Times Square is on track to become the largest hotel to achieve LEED status. The Gensler-designed property, with interiors by Jeffrey Beers International will feature sustainable materials such as roofing with low solar heat gain; green roofs with drought-tolerant, low-maintenance plants (e.g., moss and sedum plantings); large windows to maximize natural daylighting; and an energy-generating elevator system.

Floor-to-ceiling windows encase the structure, which totals 607 guestrooms that average 350 square feet. Chef Todd English will oversee the French bistro-inspired restaurant, which encompasses a private dining space and a dynamic bar overlooking Broadway. Additional amenities include a concierge lounge, fitness center, a courtyard viewing garden in the lobby complete with reflecting pool and sculptures, and 10,000 square feet of meeting space.
