Environetics Selected by LACCD for Districtwide Interior Architectural Design Projects

Aug 21, 2008

Environetics, a full-service interior architectural design and space-planning firm, announced that it has been awarded a three-year, $1 million contract with the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) to provide concepts, standards and aesthetic guidelines for interior designs, and to complete projects for all nine LACCD college campuses and the District Headquarters. The agreement extends through 2011.

"Environetics brings the design expertise and insight needed to help LACCD provide an environment that fosters an outstanding and unique educational experience, state-of-the-art facilities, and a wealth of student and community resources," says Larry Eisenberg, Los Angeles Community College District's Executive Director Facilities Planning and Development.  "We believe the work Environetics will complete in the next three years will make a significant impact on the quality of education we deliver and the futures of our students."

The initial LACCD projects span all nine campuses and include a showcase of sustainable furnishings that can be used throughout the district, as well as integrated video conferencing centers linking all of the campuses and the district headquarters.  In addition, Environetics is working on projects specific to individual campuses including:

·        The Student Services / Activities Center and the Education Center buildings at Los Angeles Southwest College

·        The Gymnasium Complex, the Theater building, the Business, Journalism, Art, Music, and Life Sciences buildings at Los Angeles Valley College

·        The Plant Facilities and Sheriff Station bungalows at Los Angeles Mission College

·        Interior planning, design and construction projects at the LACCD District Headquarters, including the Chancellor’s office, board room and café

·        Participation in the coordination and move management for various buildings at Los Angeles City College

·        Participation in determining design guidelines for all campuses with an emphasis on sustainability and LEED design

The Los Angeles Community College District is the largest community college district in the United States and one of the largest in the world.  Over the past 77 years LACCD has provided education to more than three million students.  The LACCD consists of nine colleges and covers an area of more than 882 square miles.
