Herman Miller, Trainor Modular Walls Form Partnership

Feb 9, 2010

-By Adam Figman

Herman Miller will further its presence in the demountable wall business, having inked a deal to exclusively distribute walls, doors, and hardware produced by Texas-based company Trainor Modular Walls, a division of Trainor Glass Company. The arrangement between Herman Miller and Trainor was officially put into effect on Feb. 8.

"Trainor understands the importance of quality and providing industry-leading solutions and service to its customers," says Mary Stevens, senior vice president of product management. "Overall, this alliance will take our demountable wall offer to another level and enhance our ability to create adaptable interior solutions that optimize space for evolving business needs."

Founded by Robert Trainor Sr. in Chicago, Trainor Glass Company is now a 57-year-old second-generation family business. It’s currently amongst the largest glass and framing systems fabricators in the U.S., earning over $170 million annually. This growth has occurred largely via expansion into the commercial and retail markets, after initially focusing solely on the residential market.

Both FORTUNE and Fast Company recognized Herman Miller for its global importance and social responsibility in 2009. The corporation gained more than $1.6 billion in the fiscal year.
