First NYLO Hotel in Northeast Debuts

Sept 8, 2008

Bidding travelers to "stay unique," NYLO Providence/Warwick has finally opened its doors in Warwick, R.I., officially welcoming the loft lifestyle to the Northeast.

Beyond the NYLO Providence/Warwick entryway, pod chairs hang from soaring ceilings. In The Loft, NYLO's signature restaurant/bar, chandeliers are shaped like sea coral, and tables have Plexiglas tops with embedded seashells.

Nearby, the game room beckons with custom pool table and original music by indie artists. Nooks and crannies feature free WiFi and designer couches, and the terrace is equipped with a deejay hookup. Everything runs on 100 percent renewable energy.

"Travel should be fun," says NYLO Hotels' CEO, John Russell. "Business travelers today meet with clients in the office parks of fast-growing suburban and secondary markets. They want to enjoy their tech-enhanced, urban lifestyles on the road. Consumers are looking for high style that's highly affordable. These preferences are strong in other sectors. What Starbucks, JetBlue and Mini Cooper have accomplished in their industries, NYLO is doing for business and leisure travel."

The first hotel, NYLO Plano at Legacy, made its debut in Dec. 2007 and quickly emerged as a North Dallas hotspot. Other NYLOs are slated to open in 2009 in high-volume business markets across the country, including: Irving/Las Colinas, Tex., Denver/Boulder, Colo.; Kansas City, Mo.; and Raleigh/Durham, N.C.

The 163-room NYLO Providence/Warwick is minutes from downtown Providence and area businesses, universities, golf courses and marinas. It also is close to some of New England's top beaches spread along Warwick's 39 miles of coastline. Spanning 82,800 sq. ft., the hotel is designed by Stephane Dupoux, designer of high-end restaurants, bars and clubs worldwide.

For eco-conscious travel, NYLO Providence/Warwick is the first hotel in Rhode Island to run on 100 percent renewable energy. Through a partnership with People's Power & Light (PP&L), the property will offset its entire electricity usage with a mix of local and regional solar, wind, biomass and hydroelectric power sources.

Art lovers will note the original artwork throughout NYLO Providence/Warwick. These works by local artists combine with exposed brick walls, polished concrete floors and high ceilings to give each guestroom the look and feel of a comfortable urban loft. The color palette in guest lofts is restful, all in neutrals with occasional pops of color from paintings and custom pendant lighting.

A custom bed by Simmons Bedding Company features a luxurious Beautyrest® pillow-top mattress. It's topped with five fluffy, down-like pillows; 100-percent combed-cotton triple sheeting; soft blanket with non-allergenic fiberfill; and a custom, white cotton coverlet.

The entire fourth floor -- 39 rooms -- houses allergy-friendly guest lofts from PURE Solutions North America. PURE Rooms provide comfort for guests suffering from allergies and respiratory illnesses. Each NYLO PURE Room follows a seven-step process designed to kill 98 – 100 percent of indoor allergens and bacteria. A Class 2 medical-grade air purifier does most of the work. All-natural Tea Tree Oil keeps the heating and cooling system contaminant-free. Hypoallergenic linens and covers, along with NYLO's strict no-smoking policy, keep air fresh and help assure a comfortable and healthful hotel stay.
