Parsons The New School for Design has appointed William
Morrish dean of the School of Constructed Environments, which
houses Parsons' programs in architecture, interior design, lighting
design, and product design. His term will begin on July 1,
2009.
The Allsteel/Gunlocke Resource Center at the Chicago Merchandise
Mart, has earned gold certification in LEED for Commercial
Interiors (LEED-CI). The 13,959-sq.-ft. space was designed by HOK
in 2008 and represents the fifth LEED certified showroom housing
the two sibling companies.
The international workplace consultancy DEGW announced that
Georgia Borden has been appointed director in charge of its San
Francisco office.
The ninth Antron® Carpet Fiber Product Innovation Award
top honors went to Masland Contract, Atlas Carpet Mills and Lees, a
brand of the Mohawk Group, in an awards ceremony held at NeoCon® on
June 14. Masland Contract's "Floorplan Series" and Atlas
Carpet Mills' "Dance Partner Collection" both captured the gold
award in the broadloom category, and Lees captured the gold award
in the modular category for "Sixth Sense Collection." The ceremony
honoring award winners took place at the 9th Floor Club
at Symphony Center in Chicago.
Schwab Corporation, the Indiana-based manufacturer of high-end
security and fire resistant files, safes, cabinets and vault doors
for the protection of records will begin to transition its products
under the SentrySafe brand name. The first peek of this unified
brand will be showcased at NeoCon® from June 15-17 and SentrySafe
will be located at booth 8-2102.
