Contract magazine, in partnership with Tandus, has extended the deadline due to popular demand for its second annual Inspirations Awards. Applications for the award, which honors and celebrates the commercial design community’s leadership role in furthering global efforts for social responsibility in the built and unbuilt environments, are now being accepted until Feb. 19.

Interested firms can enter their socially responsible projects to win one of two $5,000 grants for their cause by visiting Contract magazine online and submitting the digital application along with up to 10 photos of their work. Entries will be evaluated by our distinguished panel of judges: Public Architecture, San Francisco executive director John Cary; Boston Redevelopment Authority director of Urban Design Prataap Patrose; and Susan Piedmont-Palladino, Professor for the Washington Alexandria Architecture Center at the College of Architecture and Urban Studies, Virginia Tech.

Winners will be announced on March 3 and honored on April 8 at a presentation at the San Francisco Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR). Winning projects will be featured in an upcoming issue of Contract magazine and at ContractMagazine.com

Last year’s inaugural winners, which include the Meeting Street Center of Excellence, an inclusive school for children with disabilities, and Botanist, a collection of
customizable eco-friendly furniture with a cause-related giving program, can be viewed at ContractDesign.com
