Seating: Hida Sangyo

Japan's Hida Sangyo has partnered with industrial designer Enzo Mari to introduce a furniture collection that gives new meaning to the phrase "eco-chic." Made from Sugi, a wood found exclusively in the Hida-Takayama region, the 34 piece collection (15 of which are to be sold in the U.S.) utilizes a unique compression technology that increases durability while keeping the material soft and supple. The designers also decided to incorporate the knots of the wood into the collection, not typical when working with Sugi.
