Four Seasons Plans Another Hotel for London

01 September, 2010

Four Seasons is putting the final touches on the new Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, set to open this winter. Architect Eric Parry's building is ship-like, with the prow pointing up Park Lane and the rooftop spa and lounge crowning it in zinc. Taking cues from the structure's design, Pierre-Yves Rochon created interiors that recall the golden era of travel by luxury passenger ship in the 1930s. The designer also wanted to impart the feel of an English country house that welcomes guests for the weekend. As such, fireplaces populate the lobby, restaurant and bar, several meeting rooms, the 10th Floor Lounge, and many of the hotel's 192 guestrooms and suites. Greenery also plays a major role in the interiors, connecting indoors with outdoors.

Highlights of the space include an outdoor terrace leading into a conservatory and dining room, a wine wall accenting the club-like bar, private dining room, fireside wine tasting table, and an atrium lounge bathed in natural light. A grand staircase leads to the mezzanine-level meeting rooms, some of which are outfitted with antique paneling.

Meanwhile, the hotel's rooftop spa boasts sky-lit vitality pools, steam rooms, saunas, and nine treatment rooms with their own post-treatment relaxation pod. The adjacent fitness center, meanwhile, offers stunning views of Westminster.
