San Francisco-based architecture firm Stantec announced at the end of August its strategic acquisition of Anshen + Allen, a small, global healthcare architectural firm with approximately 200 employees. Perkins+Will gained George Hellmuth, AIA, LEED AP as sector leader at its Washington, D.C. office. In his new role, Hellmuth will manage relationships with governemnet sectors and agencies, as well as corporations, in the corporate, commercial, and civic markets. Hellmuth previously served as principal and director mid-Atlantic region at FXFOWLE in Washington, D.C., and his father was founder of architectural firm HOK.
Irene Bledel was hired as director of business development for LEO A DALY, Atlanta. She brings over 30 years of experience with her, having a background that includes strategic planning, executive search, and business development in multiple markets, including architecture, real estate, and engineering. Bledel holds a master’s degree equivalent in International Finance at the Azzociazione Bancaria Italiana and an associate degree equivalent in Philosophy & Literature from the Universidad de Filosofia y Letras in Valencia, Spain.IA Interior Architects, Denver announced two appointments in August. Scott Jenkins joins the firm as director of client development and Erica Kitchings will serve as the firm’s new project manager. Jenkins previously served for the last seven years as director of facility operations at Denver-based StarTek; while Kitchings was most recently an interior designer with OZ Architecture, also located in Denver.
Stephen C. Wright, AIA was appointed principal of Perkins Eastman, Arlinton, Va., bringing more than 30 years of experience in higher education and planning design with him. Previously, Wright worked at Hanbury Evans Wright Vlattas + Company. Wright is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and holds a Bachelor of Architecture. He twice served as president of AIA Hampton and served on the national AIA Committee on Interiors.
LEO A DALY, Minneapolis recently named William M. Baxley, AIA as vice president and director of design, where he will continue his dedication to effective client work and effective design. Baxley holds over 30 professional and project design awards including The Governor’s Award from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, an Honor citation from the National AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice, and an Honor Citation for the City of St. Cloud Police headquarters from the National AIA Academy of Architecture for Justice.
Perkins Eastman recently expanded its Mumbai office and assigned executive director Aaron B. Schwarz, FAIA, to work full-time in the locale to manage and expand the firm by at least 20 designers over the next year. Schwarz will collaborate with Perkins Eastman, Mumbai associate principal Smita Rawoot, who will continue to serve as the office’s client liaison.
Elizabeth Robinson was named as the new director of corporate interiors for MulvannyG2 Architecture, Bellevue, Wash. In her new role, she will use her 30-plus years of experience to manage the firm’s interiors team, under MulvannyG2, Portland director of interiors and principal Karen Niemi, IIDA. Robinson will also be responsible for managing client accounts, business development, and design practice strategies and metrics.
Dayton, Ohio-based Interbrand Design Forum announced the appointment of Dave Nixon as executive director of digital strategy, where he will oversee strategy development and implementation, as well as use Interbrand Design Forum’s research, analytics, shopper sciences, and design to connect client brands with consumers. Previously, Nixon served as a founder of Ardor Consulting, and also worked as a designer for retail. Nixon has a bachelor’s degree in visual communications design from the University of Dayton. Jane Felsen Gertler has joined Helpern Architects as associate and director of marketing, moving on to the next phase in her 22-year track record in marketing and communications. She is a Certified Professional Services Marketer [CPSM] and one of the founders of the Society for Marketing Professional Services Long Island Chapter, serving as its president from 2007-08, and Gertler is also so-author of “Architecture as a Design Partnership.”

MANUFACTURERS/PRODUCT COMPANIES:

Brad Cheney (left) joined Allsteel Inc. in August as region manager for the Southwest region, responsible for developing sales and relationships with architects, designers, and othe rend users. He brings 23 years of experience from the contract furnishings industry, having previously held positions for Humanscale and Haworth. Allsteel Inc. also recently hired Marc Newberg (right) as vice president of higher education. Newberg, who brings with him 23 years of sales experience, will be responsible for growing the manufacturer’s business in the higher education design markets.
Camira, a United Kingdom-based textile manufacturer, announced the appointment of Paul Bennotti to director of business development North America. As part of his senior level position, Bennotti will manage the development and support of the company’s entry into the North American interiors marketplace. He previously held a senior position at Victor Group, a Canadian textile company, and has worked in sales and marketing for over 25 years.
American Seating project manager Matt Robbins recently completed his LEED AP BD&C certification. Robbins has worked for the manufacturer since 2006 and currently manages the sample department and special pricing. He holds an architecture degree from the University of Michigan.Cleveland-based GE Lighting appointed of Jaime A. Irick as president and CEO of GE Lighting Solutions. Irick will report to Michael Petras, president and CEO of GE Lighting and will be responsible for the development, growth, and management of the company’s LED products for both the household and professional markets. Maltezos was named DOT, transit, and tunnel specialist for Schréder Lighting USA, where he will oversee lighting projects and specifications for transit and tunnel projects in the United States and Canada. He holds more than 25 years fo experience in electrical engineering, construction engineering, project/program management, and lighting design management, and has garnered seven International Illumination Design Awards (IIDA) from the IESNA.
