In celebration of its 25th anniversary, LIMN, a west coast resource for contemporary design-driven furniture, lighting, and accessories has launched its first collection of rugs, the LIMN Rug Collection. The limited edition series features sixteen designs by nine contemporary artists who have been working with the company since 2000. Underway since 2002, the collection was co-curated by LIMN founder and CEO Dan Friedlander and art director Christine Duval. The rugs are a permanent addition to the company’s offerings.
Each rug is a reproduction of an original artwork of the selected artists, including Derrick Buisch, Jaq Chartier, Catherine Courtenaye, Sid Garrison, Carrie Leeb, Deneane Niebergall, Nathaniel Price (pictured), Kimberly Squaglia, and Kathryn St. Clair. The quality of each original painting, drawing, or design becomes elegantly tactile when transformed into a rug. From bright eye-popping colored patterns to muted organic calm tones, each rug is unique in style and content. Made by hand in Kathmandu, Nepal, each rug features 100 knots per-sq.-in. The entire collection is made from 100 percent natural materials, including wools from Tibet and New Zealand and silk from India. Each rug takes four weavers approximately 90 to 120 days to produce. Each is individually numbered, tagged, and limited to an edition of 100 and is produced as ordered, standard sizes 8-ft. by 10-ft., 9-ft. by 12-ft. and custom size.
