Titus Salt High School
(Photos by Timothy Soar)
The new Salt High School in England’s Bradford Metropolitan District, designed by Anshen+Allen, has a ribbon-like plan that breaks down the building’s massing into clearly articulated learning, circulation, and congregating spaces. Circulation spaces have ample glazing to maximize connectivity with external areas and the landscape beyond. A light, spacious, three-story atrium, located at the main entrance, serves as the heart of the school, connecting key public areas and providing spaces for interactive learning. Titus Salt was required to achieve a contemporary design while respecting historical boundaries, due to its close proximity to Saltaire, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Tong High School
(Photos by Timothy Soar)
The new Tong High School in England’s Bradford Metropolitan District, designed by Anshen+Allen, has a bold and simple aesthetic of white rendered walls and clean lines. The massing of the building is broken down by the creation of a radial plan that creates a central courtyard connecting all other spaces, including clearly articulated teaching wings and state-of-the-art sports facilities. Generous and accessible circulation spaces have improved navigation throughout the school, significantly reducing journey time for pupils and staff.
