University of Arkansas Bookstore, Fayetteville, Ark., by Martin Roberts Design_03 The design intent was to create a new and exciting retail environment in which students could purchase textbooks and supplies while also getting the latest University of Arkansas Razorback apparel. A grand staircase at the store's main entrance draws students up to textbooks and supplies on the second floor.

University of Arkansas Bookstore, Fayetteville, Ark., by Martin Roberts Design_04 The design team focused on creating a clean, modern space where merchandise was simply presented. Concrete floors with exposed columns and beams create a loft-like feel. A simple red and white signage palette captures the school’s spirit and makes for easy wayfinding.

University of Arkansas Bookstore, Fayetteville, Ark., by Martin Roberts Design_05 Quiet reading areas where students can relax and study are found scattered around the store. This seating group is located behind the grand staircase within the Razorback apparel shop and features a bold dimensional graphic of the school’s mascot.

University of Arkansas Bookstore, Fayetteville, Ark., by Martin Roberts Design_06 The new bookstore also features an entrance on the south side where students can come in directly to get a coffee from Peet’s Coffee & Tea, test out the latest Apple products in the computer store, or just hang out in the cafe or open terrace.
