Jump Studios was inspired by trees in the park outside the Bloomberg offices to simulate a forest glade in three stacked spaces that connect the work areas to the elevators.
The designers exploited the glass walls that open onto the atrium to divide their trees into three sections so that they appear to be growing through the floors.
Branches are assembled from fiberglass sections cast in only two molds, but differently configured to suggest a variety of shapes incorporating seating pads.
The forest canopy comprises laser-cut sections of paint-covered foam that can be moved around to provide informal lounge seating. Benches and tables within the hollow fiberglass trunks provide a quiet retreat.
