Images and colors combine into a two-story “feature wall” that greets patients as they enter the building and shields waiting areas from lobby traffic.
The facility was designed to provide natural light for both staff and patients wherever possible. While street-facing facades feature brick and punched openings prevalent in the community, facades at waiting areas consist of broad expanses of windows with views to the community gardens.
Starkly contrasting with the downtown HCMC hospital–a towering 70s concrete bunker–the clinic is genuinely connected to the community. Comprised of a playful mix of glass, brick, and metal reflecting the materials of adjacent community structures, the facility is approachable and pedestrian-friendly.
Within clinical spaces, all corridors end with a view to the outdoors; second floor clinics feature towering clerestory windows for additional natural light.
