Confindustria Ceramica, the Italian Association of Ceramics made up of more than 150 of the country’s ceramic tile manufacturers, and the Italian Trade Commission are calling for entries in the 2013 Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition. In its 20th year, the competition recognizes exceptional North American architects and designers who have featured Italian ceramic tile in their work. Submissions must be received by February 6, 2013.
Designers are asked to submit new or renovated institutional, residential, and commercial/hospitality projects—domestic or international—completed between January 2008 and January 2013. Work will be judged by a panel of select design experts on official criteria including overall design of the project; innovative use of tile; tile design; quality of installation; degree to which tile enhances the setting; and the project’s sustainable attributes.
The winning projects in each category will be announced at the Ceramics of Italy International Press Conference during Coverings in Atlanta, Georgia from April 29 to May 2, 2013. Designers of those selected projects will receive a $4,000 cash prize and a five-day trip to Bologna, Italy to attend Cersaie 2013. An additional $1,000 will be awarded to the winning contractor/tile distributor in each category.
