The Chicago chapter of Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) will host their 25th annual gala on June 8. The “Believe 2013 Red Hot Ball” is a black-tie benefit dinner and cocktail reception that also serves as a kickoff event for NeoCon. Proceeds from the gala will go to Chicago-area service agencies that provide assistance, education, and outreach to those living with HIV/AIDS. The event is the third in a series of six "Believe Galas" dedicated to the organization’s grantees and has a special focus on education and advocacy this year.
Attended by design industry leaders from across the country, the evening will commence at 6:30 p.m. at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel in Chicago and feature presentations, a live auction, a cocktail reception, diner, dessert and dancing.
Val Warner of ABC-7 Chicago’s “Windy City LIVE!” will serve as event host. Dr. Claudia Hawkins of Northwestern University’s Division of Infectious Diseases at the Feinberg School of Medicine will serve as the keynote speaker and address how progress in AIDS research has been helped by education and advocacy. Herman Miller will return as Legacy Benefactor, The Design Center of the Merchandise Mart will serve as Sustaining Benefactor, and Steelcase will serve as Presenting Sponsor. Contract magazine is the gala’s National Media Sponsor, Sparc, Inc. is the Brand Design & Sponsor, and Host Sponsors include BMO Harris Bank, Shaw Contract Group, and Versteel.
Since it was founded in 1984, DIFFA has provided more than $40 million to AIDS organization’s nationwide. The Chicago chapter has awarded nearly $4 million in grants since 1987.
