For the first time in its history, The American Institute of Architects has elected women in consecutive elections for national president.
At the AIA National Convention in Denver last week, Elizabeth Chu Richter, FAIA, was elected 2014 AIA First Vice President/2015 President. She will become the fourth female president of the AIA when she takes that office in December 2014, and she will succeed 2014 President Helene Combs Dreiling, FAIA.
The CEO of Richter Architects in Corpus Christi, Texas, Richter is currently a member of the AIA National Board of Directors representing Texas, and was president of the Texas Society of Architects in 2007. She holds a bachelor of architecture degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Richter Architects received the 2011 Texas Society of Architects Firm Award.
