The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) has announced the winners of its 2013 Best Interiors of Latin America & the Caribbean Competition. The competition—which expanded to the Caribbean islands this year—launched in 2012 to recognize interior design/architecture projects that reflect creativity, originality, and design excellence in the region.

The jury comprised Jaime Velez, FIIDA, director of interior design at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, Chicago; Diego Burdi, creative partner at BURDIFILEK, Toronto; and Conrad Bonet, IIDA, president of Bonet & Associates International LLC, Miami.

“High attention to design and execution was apparent, and the exploration of cultural nuances informed the design in quite a few of the submissions, resulting in very rich and ‘of the land’ spaces,” Velez said in a statement.
