IIDA will induct two members to its College of Fellows, recognizing their contributions to the interior design profession and to the organization. Honorees for 2014 are Joan Blumenfeld and Felice Silverman. Admission to the College of Fellows is the highest honor paid by IIDA to its professional members.
Blumenfeld, global interior design director at Perkins + Will, has dedicated her career to creating humane, sustainable workplaces, schools, and institutions. In addition to mentoring young designers, Blumenfeld educates the public about the interior design profession. She has completed projects for Sotheby’s, Guggenheim New York, and NYU Stern School of Business. She currently serves on the advisory board at the New York School of Interior Design.
Silverman, president and principal at Silverman Trykowski Associates in Boston, currently serves as IIDA president. Her IIDA involvement also includes roles on the finance committee and editorial advisory board. Silverman’s 25 years of interior design experience spans education, healthcare, fitness, and office interiors. She serves on the board of overseers at Boston Architectural College, where she is an adjunct faculty member, and has taught at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Mt. Ida College, and The New England School of Art and Design.
Blumenfeld and Silverman will be honored at the IIDA Annual Meeting on June 8, 2014, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago.
