Today, President Barack Obama announced his intention to appoint more key administration posts in the arts and sciences arenas, naming Michael Graves a member of the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board. This announcement comes nine days after Contract magazine named Graves the 2013 Legend Award recipient and honored him at the 34th Annual Interiors Awards Breakfast in New York.
In a statement, President Obama commented, "These fine public servants bring both a depth of experience and tremendous dedication to their new roles. Our nation will be well-served by these individuals, and I look forward to working with them in the months and years to come." Other appointees announced today include Marta Araoz de la Torre for the Cultural Property Advisory Committee; Dr. Vinton G. Cerf for the National Science Board, National Science Foundation; Dr. Lynne Sebastian for the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation; and Dr. Laurie Leshin for the Advisory Board of the National Air and Space Museum.
