-By Holly O'Dell

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) has named five firms to provide comprehensive architectural and engineering services to buildings around the world. The firms—Beyer Blinder Belle Architects, BNIM Architects, Krueck & Sexton Architects, Weiss/Manfredi Architects, and Zimmer Gunsul Frasca—advanced to a final round of presentations and interviews with a shortlist of four other firms.

Chosen for their extensive renovation and restoration experience, the teams demonstrate a history of respecting the original character and significance of structures while producing innovative and efficient solutions that enhance the existing architecture. The OBO’s solicitation calls for the renovation, rehabilitation, restoration, new facility design, system replacement, and physical and technical security upgrade projects at State Department posts worldwide.
