Washington Post Co. Retains Gensler for New Office Design

27 March, 2013

-By Holly O'Dell

Global architecture firm Gensler has signed on to plan and design new office space for the Washington Post Co. as it explores the sale and relocation of its downtown headquarters. In an email to the newspaper staff earlier this year, publisher Katharine Weymouth said that a new workplace would give the media conglomerate “a more modern, bright, open, and efficient building that better supports and advances our mission into the future.”

Gensler is no stranger to designing workplaces for media outlets. Its work for the New York Times Co. headquarters resulted in open floor plan with high ceilings. The Associated Press also hired Gensler to design its new Washington, D.C., office to include a network operations center, convergence desk, news desk, camera studio, green room, and multiple recording booths.

The Washington Post continues to look for new office space and has not revealed a timeline for relocation.
