The Wolk Gallery at MIT will host REACH, an art exhibition of architecture from the Freelon Group, from February 15 to April 13. Museums, university buildings, libraries, and a table from founder Philip Freelon’s furniture collection will be among the exhibit’s items. There is no cost for admission.
“The title of the exhibit is REACH, an expression that conveys the spirit of our design work,” says Freelon, CEO of the Freelon Group and Contract magazine’s 2008 Designer of the Year. “The REACH exhibit theme also speaks to a broader vision of the architecture profession, one that extends beyond conventional limits, provides design excellence to everyday people and values the contributions of a wide range of stakeholders.”
Freelon is a professor of practice at MIT’s School of Architecture + Planning, as well an alum. Most recently he was named to the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, adding his name to a list of notable designers including Daniel Burnham and Frederick Law Olmsted Jr.
