Carpet Fiber: DuPont Sorona

Now available to the commercial market, the revolutionary DuPont Sorona is a renewably sourced polymer made from corn. Production of the fiber uses 30 percent less energy and reduces carbon dioxide emissions 63 percent over the production of an equal amount of nylon 6, and 37 percent of Sorona is made from renewable resources. Inherently stain and UV resistant, as it’s built into the DNA of the fiber, carpets made with Sorona, such as SmartStrand (available through Mohawk) are extremely durable and can withstand heavy foot traffic and harsh sunlight.
