Seating: TON: Dowel
Released at IMM Cologne 2014, Dowel is a lounge armchair designed by Lime studio for TON. Round, plush shapes are contained by a solid wood framework that is reminiscent of its namesake. Upholstered cushions are held in place with straps that wrap around the back and hold the seat to the frame.
“We found inspiration while traveling in India, where we noticed bent parts of beds, typical for most of the households. This item helped to create the first draft of the lounge chair," said one of the designers, Panos Vasiliou. "It all resulted in exposed construction details, straps that hold the upholstering, a natural choice of materials, and a very comfortable form.”
The Dowel chair measures 85 centimeters high and 42 centimeters wide, with a seat depth of 52 centimeters. The wood frame is available in beech or oak with multiple stain options, and the cushions can come upholstered in a variety of fabrics and leathers.
